Goo Goo Dolls
November 9, 2006
Well I don't even know where to start about this concert. I was so excited to find out that they were coming to Regina and that I could get presale tickets through their fan club. Not to mention the fact that I had a chance to win a meet & greet through the fan club. Let's just say I peed two drops when I got the email saying that I had won. The night of the concert I got off work at 6:15 and was supposed to be at the venue by 6:30. I got my wristband and waited by the merch table somewhat impatiently.
Here's my story as posted on the Inner Machine website (slightly modified):
Okay so let me set the scene for you. We waited for 45 minutes for the meet and greet to start and I was so excited and I had waited so long for this moment. We were told to line up in a straight line, no cameras, no autographs, and we could give the guys gifts. I asked if I could be the gift (I know kind of lame, but necessary) and some of the meet & greeters laughed. Now it was the moment when they came into where we were waiting. All I could to is stare. I could not believe that this moment had finally come. I watched as the 5 or 6 people ahead of me were getting their pictures taken and John glanced over at me and I swear I gave him thee most stunned look ever. Did he seriously just look me in the eyes!! It was then my turn. My body just turned into stunned mode. I shook their hands, barely said anything, and smiled alot. I wanted to tell them so much (mainly smile showing some teeth, because it is a shame to hide such georgeous smiles), but like I said before, I was in stunned mode. I made sure that I was right beside John in the picture and that I put my arm around him (I can't give up a once in a lifetime chance) and the picture took all of 2 seconds. I reluctantly took my arm off of Mike and I didn't want to let go of John, and I was just letting go when he pulled me back and whispered in my ear.....
So I was just starting walk away when I was pulled back and it really wasn't John said, but the way he said it. I mean we can all agree that his voice is amazing. What a range, but that whisper that just makes a person melt. It was right in my ear. (And I tried listening to the music with headphones and it's just not the same) I was speechless. I couldn't even reply. I think back now to that moment and I can picture his face. I wasn't looking right at him, but I'm sure he was smiling. And that voice. OMG!!! That amazing soft perfect whisper.
So I had just left the meet and greet and went over to where my friends were waiting. I told them what John had whispered and they laughed at me. I tried to explain to them that if it was a girl version of John they would understand. They laughed at me a bit more. I finally found my friends that were girls and the first thing one of them asked was if John was as hot in real life. I replied with "OMG yes, you have no idea!" I then told them that he had whispered in my ear. What did he say? everyone asks...Now picture that face, that smile, that amazing voice right in my ear..."Enjoy the show tonight" Well it's pretty obvious I'm going to enjoy the show. They could have gone on the stage and sang the phone book and I would have enjoyed myself (especially when they got to my name). But that whispery voice...incredible!!!
Anyways the meet and greet was amazing and the concert was so unique. How many times am I going to get to see John Rzeznik tune his guitar while playing Name, or choke on the fog while singing, or hear about how he is fucked in Japan.

My m&g photo. I was so leaning right into John.

I just realized that he looks so incredibly bored in this picture. Too funny!!!
I really like this one!!
I swear this guy never opens his eyes!!
Oh an action shot!! (stupid person's head in front of me)
I like this one a lot too!! Especially cuz you get to see Mike in the background.
It was kinda hard to manouvre around people's heads. I hate being short!!!
When I think of John singing this is the picture that's in my head.
And we can't forget Robby Takac
I got so caught up in the music that I kept forgetting to take pictures. Although that might be a good thing because I got to enjoy the show and didn't just see it on the screen on my camera. I really hope that the Goo Goo Dolls plan to come back to Canada real soon, because I am having total withdrawal.
